Proposing: To Plan or Not?

In recent years proposing has become a topic of conversation. Every couple is unique, and their proposal should incorporate what is unique to them.  Here are a few things couples can consider when preparing to “pop the question”:

1.       Make it a GENUINE experience.

-          Since proposals seem to be highlighted more now on social media, it is important for the couple to keep their experience unique to who they are as a couple.  It could be a special place they visited during a vacation trip or as simple as a moment they spent while watching a favorite Netflix movie or a picnic at their favorite park.

 -          The couple can make it a grand event with family and friends or just the two of them will do.  They should not let the moment be about the best photo or video they can capture to post on Instagram. They should savor the moment, and make it count.

 -          If they want to make it an intimate surprise but also grand in some way, they can consider having a private proposal followed by a “go big” engagement party with some surprises.

2.       What is more important – The moment or the Ring?

-          Sometimes couples can get caught up in moment and when it comes time to purchasing the ring, they are not sure if they should go for the “best of the best” or keeping it simple.

 -          Rule of thumb: The bride or groom proposing should know what their partner loves and will be content with. This will make for spending time “in the moment” more special than stressful worrying about the bill.

3.       Just the two of us”

-          Remember the proposal should be all about the couple’s love, and the commitment they have to each other and their future.
