Vows: Repeat or Personalize?

Vows: Repeat or Personalized?

Some couples decide to repeat after the officiant, and there are so many reasons for this.  Some feel they want to simplify the flow and just repeat the words, and others feel they may be too nervous to finish a sentence.  There is no right or wrong way for couples to share their vows.

For couples considering writing their own vows here are some unique expert tips:

1.       Start writing sooner than later.

-          Don’t cram the night before or wing it.

 2.       Discuss the overall tone versus the details?

-          Couples don’t need to rehearse their vows together, but they should consider discussing the tone and flow that will express their vows & love story best.

 3.       Quotes

-          If the couple love to read or are into quotes that inspire them, they can choose to add a few quotes or incorporate a short poem.

4.       Keep it short and sweet.

-          The vows are not meant to tell the couples whole life story, so it should be kept it short and sweet.

 -          Rule of thumb: Vows within 2 minutes remain memorable to the entire ceremony experience. It’s those short words and/or phrases that guests tend to remember.
